2025 Weather Season Recap
From winter blizzards to summer heatwaves — here’s how 2025 has unfolded so far.
🌎 January 2025
January kicked off with record global warmth — the warmest January on record despite a developing La Niña. The U.S. saw a rare Gulf Coast blizzard that brought snow to Louisiana, while Arctic sea ice hit historically low levels.
🌧 February 2025
February continued the warm trend across much of the Northern Hemisphere. The month was milder and less snowy than normal, with regional pockets of rain and warmth signaling early spring patterns.
🌪 March 2025
March exploded with extreme weather. A historic tornado outbreak (March 13–16) spawned more than 100 confirmed tornadoes. Earlier in the month, a blizzard slammed the Midwest, dumping feet of snow and producing high winds across the plains.
🌦 April 2025
April was defined by heavy moisture in the Southeast and mixed rainfall nationwide. Warm temperatures hinted that summer might arrive early, though the West stayed drier than normal.
☔ May 2025
May brought cooler highs but warmer nights, narrowing temperature ranges and suggesting strong humidity. Rainfall was above average across the Southeast, fueling lush growth and storm activity.
🌤 June 2025
June featured near-normal temperatures overall, with scattered thunderstorms marking the start of summer convection. Some areas saw above-normal rainfall while others stayed parched.
🔥 July 2025
July brought intense heat and humidity. Many areas in the U.S. East recorded heat indices above 105°F, alongside persistent thunderstorms that soaked the ground. Some drought areas began to recover slightly.
🌩 August 2025
August held steady with summer’s typical mood: hot days, warm nights, and afternoon thunderstorms. Tropical moisture pulses kept the Southeast active, though much of the Midwest trended drier.
🍂 September 2025
September marked the start of the seasonal shift, but heat still lingered. While northern states began cooling, southern regions stayed locked in summer patterns with occasional tropical rains.
🌬 October 2025 (so far)
October has opened with warmth and scattered storms. Cold fronts are starting to sweep through northern regions, signaling the first hints of true autumn. Rainfall remains uneven but helpful in drought-stricken zones.
Overall Trends
2025 continues to show amplified extremes — record warmth, violent storms, and delayed seasonal transitions. Climate scientists note that the persistence of warmth even under La Niña suggests ongoing background warming trends. Local variations remain vast, but one message rings clear: weather in 2025 is anything but average.
