Idabel, OK — November 4, 2022 Tornado
An intense late-season outbreak produced a long-track tornado that struck Clarksville, Texas, and continued toward Idabel, Oklahoma, during the evening of November 4, 2022. The tornado reached EF4 intensity in Texas, and produced EF2–EF3 damage in and near Idabel with at least 13 injuries. A separate tornado in northwestern McCurtain County near Pickens was rated EF2 and caused one fatality.
Forecasters issued a Tornado Emergency for Idabel as radar showed a large, destructive tornado approaching from the southwest. Surveys by NWS Norman and NWS Shreveport documented the path, including major structural damage in Idabel and a measured 108 mph gust at a nearby Oklahoma Mesonet site.
